This is my very first bog entry, so I will start with an introduction.

I am known on the net as ‘Jemgirl’ as I am a huge Jem fan. My name is Rachael, a child of the 80‘s and I have always been fascinated by music and creativity and involve these things in my life for fun and for work. For a living, I work as a doll customizer and have the pleasure of working from home in my little studio where I have my sewing machines, paints, other supplies, many dolls etc. I started taking commissions for customers in 2004, yet worked on other projects also such as software beta testing and in the last year and a half, I’ve been creating custom dolls as my main work full time. I have plans to release some new software soon also and have done the occasional music composition and production work too, yet my doll customizing business is my main line of work currently.

Some of the techniques I do to dolls are making fashions, re-rooting new hair, hair styling, making custom shoes and accessories with making molds and casting them in various colors and glitters and my fav technique to do is re-painting dolls. I put a lot of time and love into re-painting and enjoy it so much. Seeing what a doll once was and what they can become with my ideas and painting, is very exciting to me.

Being a fan of customizing dolls, I also collect dolls. My fav doll to date has been Jem dolls and I also collect various other dolls such as Barbie, Blythe, Strawberry Shortcake and many others. Currently my doll collection is sitting at it’s peak of 1000 dolls and half of those are Jem dolls, yep, I have more than 500 Jem dolls. Somewhat crazy, but hey, I’m Jemgirl, a hardcore Jem fan.

It was about 3 years ago that I completed my Jem collection consisting of all the Hasbro released items of Jem dolls, fashions and play sets, plus I got collecting on a lot of the items also boxed and other merchandise, plus had a lot of custom dolls and fashions I’d made in my collection. I have enjoyed them so much and have had a wonderful Jem room set up to enjoy them all in. Yet currently I am downsizing on some collections and for the reason of wanting to enjoy my very favorite dolls and have less to fuss over, so it’s time for someone else to enjoy some of these dolls that I’m wanting to part with. And often when I part with a doll that I’m not appreciating enough anymore, seeing my favs displayed, brings a whole new enjoyment to the dolls. Plus it is nice to change things up now and then. And I feel that if something is no longer being enjoyed, then it’s time for someone else to enjoy it. Plus photos can hold an item in time and hold a wonderful visual memory to enjoy as you please. So I am very happy to have owned such an extensive Jem collection, yet it’s time some of it will be spreading it’s wings to various people around the globe.
